Various
Artists - Citta Vol. 1
”This release is brought to you from Attic Records and its collection of
talented artists. For those well versed on the intricacies of house music, Citta
Vol. 1 is best described as having a smooth tech house vibe, easily the
backdrop to a night at home or a prelude to a clubbers night out. This two
set comp features the likes of Ed Tillbrook, Matt Collins, Jon Lawson,
Andre Sundberg, JuJu, Little X, Pariah Project, Void and Fono, who also
have up and coming releases on Attic Records.
Self described as “a compilation of deep, tech house and down tempo
beats” is exactly what this album offers. To be perfectly astute, it at
times leans on the repetitive techno side, with such tracks as Flipflop’s Flophead
and Fono’s Trying. But having said that, there are equally as many
up tempo, rhythmically enticing broken beat tracks, such as Andre
Sundberg’s Sauve and Kinder Atom’s Ladies (Soft Mix), and
that’s just the first half of it.

Disc two offers much of the same course but a tad
more melodic bordering on hypnotic trance infused tunes. Dark undertones
but sweet highlights paired to alluringly consistent baselines. Jon C.
Lawon’s Festive is an up tempo tune with high hats and an enticing
constant ambient horn. JuJu’s Coloured Past is sexually textured, a
colourful, jazz-infused, tech house track with a down tempo vibe.
It is important to note that Citta Vol. 1 is a
lyric less comp but if that’s your fancy, guaranteed, you will not be
disappointed. Admittedly, dark tech house is

not everyone’s cup of tea, but if our choices are
between a have and have not, Citta Vol. 1 easily makes the choice to
have obviously clear.
As a starting point, Attic is in the right direction, but on a final note,
lyrics tend to eliminate the drone of a purely electronica sound so here’s
to Vol. 2’s sure to be renaissance of feel good tech housemusic.” Cheryl
Thompson (Musosguide.com).
“Very soon you will all be discovering something new,
something deep, something tech-house and something down tempo from this
label whose intent is to push forward new talent onto a scene that is
somewhat ‘stagnant’, in my opinion it does it very well and I would like to
thank Justin for this review copy.” David (Discoid, Italy)
